Forget spoilers, the race has been over for several hours now and I’m fairly confident that nobody will be watching the whole thing once again on TiVo.

The news is simple, the Audi R18 e-tron has won this weekend’s immensely important endurance race at the Le Mans 24 hour event.

Actually, the whole event was totally dominated by the Ingolstadt backed German team. They’ve also taken 2nd, 3rd and 5th place overall.

The first two places went to the Audi R18 e-tron quattro, four wheel drive diesel hybrid and the remaining two went to the more traditional R18 Ultra.

Audi board member Rupert Stadler took the opportunity to properly secure the company’s bragging rights and, in a very gentlemanly way, didn’t take one shot at Toyota.

This serious victory and the consistency of their running at the Le Mans 24 hour race over the last thirteen years is proof of the engineering excellence the company is capable of.

Meanwhile at the Toyota stand, the only serious competitors Audi really had this year their results weren’t as successful.

Both their cars are out of the race, one of which was crashed into by a Ferrari thus sending both cars into the wall.

The second Toyota TS0-030 shortly lead the race but then was troubled by a pit stop and crashing into the Nissan Deltawing by the end.

There’s another thing about the Audi victory. That 4th place that took out some of the R18 dominance went to a Lola Toyota that had Alain Prost’s son as a driver.
