The Audi RS5 TDI was driven by professional race car driver Nicki Thiim and managed to lap 3.6 km in 35.35 seconds, which is 1.87 seconds faster than the previous lap record, set in February 2015. But to reach this extraordinary performance, the RS5 TDI Competition Concept has run through a rigorous preparation program.

”We exploit the full power potential of the TDI and supplement it with the added thrust of the electric compressor, which we will soon see in a production car model,” Ulrich Weiß concluded.

The Audi RS5 TDI Competition Concept was built solely for the tracks, the sports car packing a 3.0-liter biturbo V6 TDI unit, fitted with an electrically driven compressor, the vehicle now outputting 435 horsepower and impressive 800 Nm of torque. This is just enough to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.0 seconds.
