BMW officially announced the introduction of ActiveHybrid 3 in the United States, the first hybrid model within the 3 Series range.
Under the bonnet we find a 3.0-liter TwinPower Turbo unit borrowed from the 335i model, an electric motor and an eight-speed Steptronic automatic transmission.
Thanks to the hybrid powertrain, the total output of the model is rated at 335 horsepower and 450Nm of torque, for a 0-100 km/h sprint in 4,8 seconds and a top speed of 250 km/h.
“The BMW ActiveHybrid 3’s synchronous electric motor develops a maximum output of 55 hp. As well as supporting all-electric operation around town, it can also provide a performance-boosting function for more powerful acceleration,” says the German company.
If you want to drive with zero emissions, the electric motor gives you a range of four kilometers at speeds up to 70 km/h.
The all-new BMW ActiveHybrid 3 will enter the market this fall with prices starting from $49,300 (excluding an $895 destination and handling fee).
