Audi’s brand new RS7 hasn’t stolen the show at the Detroit Motor Show going on these days. That’s a bit of a shame since it’s quite the impressive vehicle.
Going up against a more popular sports car like the Chevrolet Corvette has certainly not done it any favors. The Germans don’t like being defeated.
We’ve learned that quite a few times throughout history and we’ve certainly figured it out when they started making cars that stood on top of everybody else.
They don’t really have a plan to fight back against the success of the Corvette, but an Audi fan actually has come up with a brilliant response.
He’s created some beautiful renderings of what the 2014 Audi RS7 would look like provided it had the opportunity to race in Group B rallies.
The RS7 Sportback was given a makeover that seems to have merely been taken off the original Audi Quattro and then adapted to fit the newest product from the Ingolstadt stable.
The question is, could this imaginary car have been competitive in such an environment? Back when it was introduced, it wasn’t very powerful.
After a bit of evolution it would develop some 500+ horsepower. This is where the RS7 goes brilliant since the Germans fit it with 400 horsepower to begin with.
Tuning it for racing would definitely make for much, much more power. Since there’s a lot of equipment, a lot of weight can come off too.
I know Group B won’t really happen but it’s still an impressive and fun thought to have.
