Details About Porsche 911 GT3 R Hybrid
We have here the popular Porsche 911 in a hybrid version which will be presented at Geneva Auto Show 2010. Just think about it, Porsche is from now on friend with the nature providing a 911 coupe hybrid version. That version is not ready yet, for now we have present at Geneva Auto Show 2010 a hybrid version of the racing car Porsche 911 GT3 R.
Beside that monster engine with the capacity of 4.0 liter which develops 480 horsepower they added two electric engines which move the front deck. The electric engines of the Porsche 911 GT3 R cannot be used permanently, but for maximum 8 seconds. The drive can power on the engines with a push of the button, those provide an extra 120 kW (160 horsepower) to the front wheels.
Porsche to develop a hybrid competition version of 911 GT3-RSR
Porsche engineers may develop a competition version of the 911 GT3-RSR equipped with a hybrid powertrain. This will start in the 24 hours race at Nurburgring.
Germans from Porsche will compete in the 24 hours race at Nurburgring this year with a hybrid version of Porsche 911 GT3-RSR. The model will use a hybrid propulsion system that will work in the style of the KERS system from Formula 1. Hybrid version of Porsche 911 GT3-RSR will keep the engine fueled with gasoline and will be equipped with an electric motor powered by a set of batteries. Most likely, the model will focus on capturing kinetic energy lost in braking and this will provide more power at the exit of corners.
