The Americans at the NHTSA have caught the Germans at Mercedes-Benz out with some problems. Sadly, the problem Mercedes is experiencing has lead to a very big recall on quite a few of the Stuttgart based manufacturer’s models.

Volkswagen USA has just announced that they will be recalling almost 16.000 Routan minivans over a possible fire hazard discovered. The current recall is the fourth to be made this month after General Motors, BMW and Chrysler issued recalls on certain models for problems that could lead to a fire.

The 2004 Chevrolet Corvette is undergoing investigation from the NHTSA after there have been several complaints in relation to the fuel tanks of these vehicles. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said that it has opened the investigation into 33,000 of these 2004 Chevrolet Corvettes over leaky fuel tank problems.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration announced a recall for the 2010 model year Subaru Legacy sedans and Outback crossovers equipped with a continuously variable transmission. The recall affects a total of 29,443 vehicles that are spec’d up with the CVT in the States.

The American House of Representatives is proposing legislation that will beef up car safety regulations as a direct reaction to Toyota‘s recent recall issues. The bill forwarded is most likely to be attacked by foreign car makers as it urges manufacturers to supply technologies that cannot be quickly made available.
