PSA/Peugeot-Citroen and Mitsubishi Motors Corporation have been talking about using one of the Japanese company’s platforms for small, low-range cars.

Mitsubishi’s low-cost “Global Small” platform that will be produced in Thailand is the main point of interest when faced with this collaboration proposal between the two companies.

Mitsubishi’s plans for 2011 feature the creation of a car that uses this platform and will be available for starters in Japan with the global market having to wait for 2012 to see what it is about.

In early 2010, PSA and Mitsubishi discussed the possibility of a stake swap but it later withdrew from the plan, using improper conditions as a motive to give it up. Later this year, Peugeot and Citroen will launch their electric cars in Europe, the iOn and C-Zero, which are both based on Mitsubishi’s iMiEV electric propelled creation.

Confirmation of this report from PSA is still waited on.
