View

The 2016 Los Angeles Auto Show is on a full swing with a lot of carmakers to present their latest prototypes and concepts. Chevrolet is also present with an interesting fleet, amongst which the 2018 Equinox SUV stands out from the rest with a plethora of safety gizmos, imposing design and interesting powertrains under the hood.

Starting with the safety department, all versions of the 2017 Equinox are now equipped with the Forward Collision Alert with Following Distance Indicator, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure, Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert, haptic-feedback seat, surround-view camera and much more.

Inside, the cabin is fully-tweaked with the latest gadgetries, including the GM`s new MyLink infotainment systems with a range of seven- and eight-inch touchscreen displays, satellite navigation, Android and CarPlay connectivity and so forth.

In the engine department, the 2017 Chevrolet Equinox SUV is offered with two turbo gasoline burners and just a single diesel for the moment. We are looking here with a 1.5-liter engine with 170 horsepower and six-speed automatic, followed by a 2.0-liter mill with 252 horsepower and a nine-speed automatic transmission.

On the other hand, the diesel refers to a 1.6-liter direct-injection flat-four cylinder engine, developing 136 horsepower and being hooked to a six-speed automatic. The fuel consumption is also visibly improved, dealing here with around 40 mpg on the highway.

Once arriving on the market in the first quarter of 2017 as a 2018 MY, the model will be offered with a front-wheel drive layout as standard and an optional all-wheel drive configuration. In Europe, the model will come as the replacement of the Opel Antara.
