It seems that the Pagani Huayra supercar will ultimately arrive in the United States, even if the company’s airbag exemption was not admitted by NHTSA.
The Italian supercar is powered by a 6.0-liter V12 engine capable to deliver 720 horsepower and 1,000 Nm of torque, enough for a 0-100 km/h sprint in 3,3 seconds and a top speed of 370 km/h.

In order to be able to meet the U.S. regulations and bring the Huayra in the States, Pagani had to invest more than $5 million and fit the models with airbags.

However, only 15 cars will be offered in North America starting June 2013. Pagani released no official pricing for the U.S.-spec Huayra but expect a quite steep price considering the limited number of vehicles.

“The welcome we have received by the American audience and car enthusiasts in 2011 made us eager to return in 2012 with an even stronger presence,” says the Modena-based car maker.
