Porsche’s 911 GT3 R Hybrid may be interesting but since it’s only a racing car we’re more interested in street going stuff.
And on that front the high-performance Germans came forward today with an announcement that’s way more interesting, because it’s regarding the 918.
It must have been a few million years ago when we first heard about the Porsche 918 hybrid supercar and since then a lot has changed.
We heard about how Porsche’s 918 Spyder Concept has a shot at being turned into a production model and things got a lot more interesting.
Some minor setbacks came around since then but Porsche have been keeping us on a roller coaster of good and bad news about the 918 Hybrid.
It’s all over now because we finally know the Porsche 918 Spyder Hybrid is going to be produced and its performance and price are out in the open.
Using a mixture between a 500 horsepower V8 and two 218 horsepower electric motors, the Porsche 918 Hybrid is pretty impressive.
0 to 62 comes up in 3.2 seconds and the top speed figure came in at 199 mph which is pretty much average nowadays.
On the brighter side, the Porsche 918 Hybrid is a supercar that can manage 78 mpg which is impressive even for a lightweight hatchback.
All of this doesn’t come cheap as Porsche claims the 918 Spyder Hybrid will cost somewhere around $845.000 before taxes.
