A new electric city car from Kia has been officially confirmed. Launching officially next year, the new EV1 model will compete with vehicles like the Renault 5 E-Tech.

A new electric model is being prepared by the South Korean firm. The Renault 5 E-Tech, Peugeot e-208, and Opel Corsa Electric are electric vehicles that this subcompact class car will compete with. According to Kia, their upcoming model will utilize the same 400-volt E-GMP architecture as the EV2 electric crossover and will be the first software-defined car in this market.

While we don’t yet have official confirmation, we can probably expect the new model to be called the EV1. Additionally, it is anticipated that the new city car would be equipped with the same 42.2 kWh and 61 kWh batteries, as it will share its architecture with the EV2 model. As a result, the potential future EV1 range might be around 480 kilometers.

There is a lack of information regarding the new electric city automobile. Nonetheless, we are aware that by 2030, Kia will have introduced fourteen electric vehicles worldwide, including the forthcoming EV1.

There will be a mix of passenger cars, SUVs, and commercial vehicles among these.

In 2029, Kia will introduce a new electric SUV in addition to their new city car that will debut next year. The company has stated that this will be their new electric vehicle flagship model, although they have remained mum on details regarding the vehicle thus far.

Furthermore, Kia has declared the launch of a new platform that will supersede the present E-GMP design. A 40 percent improvement in battery capacity and a 9 percent improvement in electric motor power are promised by the next electric car platform.

A new generation of batteries, with a 30% simplified composition and a 15% better energy density than present batteries, will be able to be installed on the platform.

Lastly, a new multimedia system will be built on top of a new software structure that Kia is currently working on.
