The Chinese-based car manufacturer Chery recently announced the UK pre-orders for its brand-new Tiggo 4 CSH, which officially becomes the official competitor of the new Dacia Duster Hybrid.
Prices for the new subcompact SUV start at £19,995, and bring it closer to the new Duster Hybrid. However, full prices and specifications are rather scarce at the moment; the early message makes it pretty clear: the Chinese model is said to become a more affordable alternative in the UK`s hybrid segment.
This is not a subtle comparison; the timing is of the essence. For instance, the 2026 Dacia Duster Hybrid is available in the UK at £25,095, and comes with 155 ps, while the newly-arrived Tiggo 4 CSH has 201 ps and 310 Nm of torque; and that gives Chery an obvious number to lead with, though the price gap may be the more important one in practice.
Under the bonnet sits the brand’s fifth-generation Chery Super Hybrid system, which marks the first full-hybrid setup for this SUV line. It has an automatic DHT transmission system, a 1.5-liter engine, and a 1.83 kWh battery. The slap on the back is that Cherry is also putting forward a promotional package, that is, a 7-year/100,000-mile warranty, as well as an 8-year/100,000-mile warranty on the battery pack.
In a broader sense, we are not really talking about a brand-new car. The Tiggo 5x, for example, was marketed worldwide as the Tiggo 4, which has been in existence since 2017. Nevertheless, it has had three facelifts over the years, the most recent of which is to be introduced in 2024 in the case of Tiggo 4 in the export market. Therefore, this UK entry is not new per se, but rather it is new ground up.
Chery’s wider corporate backdrop gets mentioned too. The Chery Holding Group is the 233rd entry on the 2025 Fortune Global 500 list, and Chery UK forms part of Chery International. The company also sells Chery, Omoda, and Jaecoo models in the United Kingdom.
