Audi A5 facelift unveiled ahead Frankfurt Auto Show debut

The Germans from Audi decided to reveal the first details and photos of the facelift treatment prepared for the current A5. The Ingolstadt-based manufacturer tries to refresh the appearance of the current-generation A5 with a facelift version that is scheduled to debut at the upcoming Frankfurt Auto Show this fall.

In terms of aesthetic improvements, the new A5 facelift features reworked front and rear optical blocks with LED lights, revised front grille and bumper with larger air intakes and a new rear bumper. Entering the cabin, customers will enjoy new upholstery choices, a new steering wheel and a revised MMI infotainment system.

If the styling tweaks of the new Audi A5 facelift will not impress you too much, you may want to know the revised engine range available for the German model. The new A5 comes with a revised 1.8-liter TFSI as the entry-level unit. The engine in question is able to deliver 170 horsepower and 320 Nm of torque, returning a combined fuel economy of just 5,7 liters/100 km. In terms of CO2 emissions, the model emits only 134 g/km, decent figures considering the total power amount. If you want more action under the bonnet, you can opt for the 2.0-liter TFSI unit offering 211 horsepower or the more potent 3.0-liter TFSI engine producing 272 horsepower.

Moving on to the diesel range, we face the 2.0-liter TDI unit offering 177 horsepower, a combined fuel consumption of only 4,7 liters/100 km and CO2 emissions of 122 g/km. You can opt for more power by choosing the 3.0-liter TDI unit delivering 204 horsepower and a fuel economy of 4,9 liters/100 km. The top of the range unit is a 3.0-liter V6 TDI capable to offer no less than 245 horses.

The Germans also unveiled the revised Audi S5 Coupe which benefits from a 3.0-liter TFSI engine able to produce 333 horsepower. The sprint from 0 to 100 km/h is achieved in 4,9 seconds and the top speed is 250 km/h. Fuel economy figures are also great, Audi announcing an average consumption of 8,1 liters/100 km, mainly due to the smaller unit which replaces the 4.2-liter V8 and offers 20% improved figures.
