The diesel in question is, of course, a TDI and it develops 170 horsepower while still being quite economical.

Besides the 170 horsepower from the engine that’s going to equip both variations of the TT, the coupe and the roadster will be providing 258 lb-ft of torque available between 1,750 and 2,500 rpm. The whole range will come with permanent all wheel drive and a manual six speed gearbox.

Since the diesel engine in the 2011 Audi TT can provide performance that will take it from 0 to 62 in 7.5 seconds and onwards to a top speed of 140 mph while still returning 44 mpg and only producing 224 grams of CO2 per mile traveled nothing really needed changing on the engine. The technology featured in it includes four valves per cylinder, common rail and a variable geometry turbocharger.

In Europe sales of the 2011 Audi TT are scheduled for this summer with prices in Germany starting from €34,850 for the coupe and €35,900 for the roadster.
