Audi releases new details on the RS5 TDI concept

Audi RS5 TDI concept is a model unveiled by the German carmaker in May this year. It was launched to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the TDI engine. Today, they decided to release additional details on the high-performance prototype.

Under the hood, sits a 3.0-liter V6 TDI producing 385 horsepower and 750 Nm of torque for a 0-100 km/h sprint in 4 seconds and a top speed of 280 km/h.

Audi says that the RS5 TDI concept sports an electric turbocharger which replaces the turbine wheel for improved performance. Fuel economy figures are rated at 5,3 liters/100 km or 44,3 mpg US.

“Our latest innovation is the electric turbocharger, which further improves not just sprint times and pulling power, but also efficiency,” says Audi.

The electric turbocharger uses a lithium-ion battery for power supply. The improved exhaust turbochargers will also give a power boost to the German concept.
