Sometimes, people claim that it’s snowing in hell. Today however, it seems that it’s raining in paradise, given the newest of announcements.

Those safety conscious folks over at the NHTSA have decided to rain on the parade of a bunch of Lamborghini Aventador owners by requesting a recall of their cars.

The authority found that the headlamps on some versions of the Italian supercar are not compliant with US standards.

The lights can be aimed horizontally but the vertical adjustment isn’t an option, thus becoming incapable of passing federal standards.

Either way, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is not having any. They’ve already issued a recall bulletin and you can bet that owners of the affected models aren’t having the best day ever.

Some of them can take joy in the fact that even though this is a low volume car, the numbers affected by the headlight problem are even smaller.

Only 144 units of the 2012 Lamborghini Aventador sold in the United States are affected by the problem. They have been built over quite the substantial time period though.

All affected models, rolled out of the Sant’Agata Bolognese factory between July 15, 2011 and April 20, 2012.

Obviously, it’s the manufacturer who will have to cover the cost of fixing the headlight issue. The recall is scheduled to begin with notifications for the owners next week.

This likely means that Lamborghini will make the fix before year’s end. You know, just in case people want to go for a good drive on Christmas day.
