British customers have a new reason to be happy as Caterham officially revealed the new Supersport R, a model based on the standard Supersport variant.
Under the hood we find a 2.0-liter engine from Ford, a unit capable to produce 180 horsepower and 194Nm of torque. Power is transferred to the wheels via a five-speed manual transmission.

The acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h is possible in just 4,8 seconds while the top speed is rated at 209 km/h. Even the power plant is not very powerful, the performance figures are quite impressive thanks to the model’s total mass of just 535 kilograms.

“Like the standard Supersport, the new edition has many circuit-orientated performance essentials, but gains a bigger engine and a five-speed gearbox to boost outright performance significantly,” says Caterham.
The British model also benefits from a retuned suspension system optimized for the track, new springs and dampers, a limited slip differential and new Avon CR500 tires.
