Jaguar Land Rover to miss out on Detroit Motor Show

The British at Jaguar Land Rover have confirmed their plans for the Detroit Motor Show. Actually, they’ve confirmed the lack of plans for the American event.

Neither of the alliance members will display any of their products in Motown and while it’s a little sad, it’s not that big a loss for the show.

What makes the announcement particularly unusual is that Jaguar Land Rover will be attending the New Delhi Motor Show instead.

There’s two very solid reasons for this to happen. Jaguar Land Rover are under Tata ownership and Tata is an Indian brand.

Also, and probably much more important than that, India is one of the fastest growing car markets around right now. Properly prospecting and selling here could mean a lot for both the Jaguar and Land Rover brands.

The company’s Indian show presence remains undisclosed for now but it is very doubtful that any of the companies will be unveiling any new products or concepts there. They’re likely to stick to the tried and tested.

As for the Americans, JLR isn’t completely forgetting them. The brand’s U.S. executives will be strolling around the Detroit Cobo Center just in case Land Rover will have a prize to collect there.

With the Range Rover Evoque being one of the finalists of the North American Truck of the Year, it would be a shame to win and not have anybody represent you there.

That’s about all JLR had to say but we expect a new press release to follow up shortly as they clarify their presence at the Indian show.
