The proper L.A. preview: The Chevrolet Camaro Convertible

Don’t get me wrong, just about anything we have on the Los Angeles Motor Show this year is more or less interesting but a convertible sort of suits more of the town.

Actually not even the whole town but definitely a part of Los Angeles is well accustomed to open top motoring.

Since the motor show will open its gates in less than a week now, Chevrolet decided to use their Facebook page to show off one of their stands.

The 2011 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible isn’t exactly newsworthy as the Neiman Marcus edition has revealed most of the goodies on it.

The production version of the Chevrolet Camaro Convertible is yet to be portrayed properly and this is just the sort of announcement we needed.

One of the massive plus points of this preview is Chevrolet finally showing us the car with the canvas roof in place. It doesn’t look as good as the coupe but it doesn’t look bad either.

Apart from this, it’s business as usual with the Chevrolet Camaro albeit in convertible form. I’ll admit to a few differences, possibly the most important being availability starting March 2011 for the open top version.

Trim levels and engine choices remain the same. The bottom end has a relatively good compromise RS version which drains 312 horsepower from a V6 engine. The bells and whistles version gets you the SS with no less than 426 horsepower from the LS3 V8.
