Chevrolet’s updated Corvette lineup already received a fresh small-block V8 for the 2027 model year, though Japan’s latest commemorative model sticks with the older LT2 setup instead of the newer LS6. Even so, General Motors still prepared something unusual for the local market.

Named the Corvette America Anniversary Edition, the special model celebrates the 250th anniversary of the United States and arrives exclusively in Coupe 3LT specification. Production stays extremely limited. Chevrolet plans only 20 examples for Japan.

Public appearances are scheduled between June 6 and June 7. Pricing sits high, too. Including Japan’s 10 percent consumption tax but excluding registration, insurance, and recycling-related costs, the car carries a sticker of 19,850,000 yen, or around 124,560 dollars.

Part of the expense stems from logistics tied to converting the Kentucky-built sports car into right-hand-drive form. Shipping in smaller numbers also affects the final figure. Japan applies no flat import tariff on the Stingray, though local taxation linked to engine size and vehicle mass adds another financial layer buyers need to deal with.

For example, the Corvette’s 6.2-liter engine places the coupe in Japan’s highest tax category. Weight taxation also rises progressively for every 500 kilograms, equal to 1,102 pounds, of vehicle mass. Meanwhile, Japan’s lightest kei cars currently weigh 650 kilograms, or 1,433 pounds. Different category entirely, admittedly, though the comparison helps explain part of the Corvette’s pricing situation overseas.

Chevrolet treated the America Anniversary Edition more like a styling-focused package than a heavily reworked limited-run variant. The cabin receives unique scuff plates, custom floor mat badging, and a passenger-side dashboard ornament tied specifically to the edition. Outside, the coupe wears red-and-black racing stripes over a white body finish. Forged bright-face aluminum wheels join Edge Red brake calipers, while the engine cover also adopts an Edge Red treatment and integrated lighting.

The interior combines black and red upholstery, then adds the Stealth Interior Package. Chevrolet describes the package through darker trim details across the speaker grilles, air vents, and center console trim panel.

Performance figures remain familiar because the coupe uses the Z51 package alongside the LT2 V8. Output reaches 495 horsepower at 6,450 revolutions per minute and 470 pound-feet, or 637 Newton-meters, at 5,150 revolutions per minute. Chevrolet estimates a 0-60 miles per hour sprint in 2.9 seconds, equal to 97 kilometers per hour, while top speed lands at 194 miles per hour or 312 kilometers per hour.

Meanwhile, the newer LS6 grows displacement to 6.7 liters and switches to both direct and port injection. Chevrolet lists 535 horsepower at 6,100 revolutions per minute alongside 520 pound-feet, or 705 Newton-meters, at 4,600 revolutions per minute.
