Few recent performance cars have sparked as many arguments about styling as Mercedes-AMG‘s latest four-door GT. The move toward an electric-only setup grabbed attention, but the shape of the car ended up creating almost as much discussion.

A digital artist known on Instagram as @sphynx.designs decided to take a different route.

Instead of working around the production design, the creator reworked several key areas while keeping the basic silhouette intact. The project was assembled through photo-editing rather than AI-generated imagery, with the stated goal of preserving what the artist calls the GT identity.

The timing feels interesting. Mercedes-AMG has already moved away from the previous combustion-powered formula, replacing the ICE-based family with electric drivetrains and synthetic engine sounds. Not everybody seems convinced by the change.

Look at the rendering for a few seconds and the front end stands out immediately. A different grille takes center stage. New headlamp graphics follow. The bumper receives a simpler treatment as well. Curiously, the side view stays largely untouched. Most of the visual surgery happened elsewhere.

At the rear, the transformation becomes easier to spot.

The three circular lamps used on each side of the production model disappear. In their place sit slimmer light units surrounded by a smaller black trim section. Lower down, the bumper adopts a calmer appearance, and a fresh diffuser arrives underneath. Four squared exhaust finishers complete the package.

Those exhaust outlets are important because the artist imagines something absent from the production car. A V8.

The article points toward the electrified 4.0-liter powertrain from the GT 63 S E Performance. In that application, output reaches 831 hp, while torque stands at 1,033 lb-ft, or 1,400 Nm. Top speed is listed at 196 mph, equivalent to 316 kph. The run from 0 to 62 mph, or 0 to 100 kph, takes 2.9 seconds.

Then again, the production model already surpasses those figures in several areas.

The 2027 GT 63 4Matic+ develops 1,153 hp through its electric powertrain. Torque rises to 1,475 lb-ft, equal to 2,000 Nm. Equipped with the AMG Driver’s Pack, maximum velocity reaches 186 mph, or 300 kph.

Acceleration remains astonishing. Mercedes-AMG quotes 2.1 seconds from rest to 62 mph when one-foot rollout is included. Without rollout, the same sprint takes another 0.3 seconds.

Whether this redesign improves the appearance of the 2027 Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe depends entirely on personal preference. What feels harder to debate is the message behind the rendering. Some enthusiasts still want a large AMG performance car with a V8 sitting at the center of the experience.
